Former nurse faces murder charge

The accused, Johannes Masebo, the then former nurse, allegedly killed her former girlfriend who was a teacher at Francistown Senior Secondary School following a misunderstanding.

After delivering ruling in the matter, Justice Moroka explained three options that Masebo can choose from when defending himself against the allegation.

After Moroka delivered a brief ruling in connection with the matter, Masebo pleaded with the court to vary his bail conditions.

“I plead with the honourable court to give me my passport back. Since I surrendered my passport, I am suffering because I sometimes have to travel outside the country but cannot do so since I don’t have my passport. My two relatives in Zimbabwe from my wife’s side have recently passed away but I am constrained to pay my last respects because I don’t have my passport,” Masebo pleaded. 

He also prayed with the court to make an order that he reports himself at the nearest police station because he sometimes works outside Serule which inconveniences him when he has to travel outside Serule.

In response to Masebo’s pleas, Moroka advised Masebo to liaise with the police on time whenever he has to travel outside his workstation in Botswana.

The Judge also advised Masebo to make arrangements with the police concerning his travel to Zimbabwe.

The accused was also ordered to appear in court on March 19, 2019 for continuation of trial.
