Fraudsters allegedly scam septuagenarian

Tshane Police Station commander Vusimusi Jorowe confirmed that they are investigating the case. He said his officers are on a manhunt for the three men who scammed the septuagenarian.

“The trio allegedly reached out to the old man and tricked him into believing that he has a problem that only they could solve through prayer.  They allegedly met the old man and told him of problems that he is facing, prayed for him and told him to pay the sum of P10,000,” he said.

Jorowe said last week the alleged fraudsters met with the old man at Macheng Mall in Tsabong where he handed over P10,000 cash. He stated that after being paid the old man was further tricked into handing over his ATM cards to the trio.

“Then they allegedly gave him a metal container (teranka) promising that they will pray for his ATM cards and in return it (metal container) will be filled with money, something that has never worked,” Jorowe said.
