The trio who are saxophonist, acoustic guitarist and trumpeter respectively who aptly call themselves The Brothers Trio, promises a refreshing yet energetic performance when they debut at Somarelang Tikologo during a musical event called ‘A night with The Brothers Trio’.

The band’s spokesperson and lead singer, Matshaba told  Arts & Culture that as a relatively new group, this will be their first main event and they expect it to be a success.

“This is our first main performance since we started in 2017 and we will use it to launch the band. We bring a unique sound that has never been heard locally and we expect to have a beautiful night with the fans on Friday,” he said.

Matshaba stated that they are currently in the studio working on their debut album and would sample some of the songs tonight.

He said that they would perform alongside singer Kenosi Magetse, who will appear as a guest.

Although the group has not yet identified the type of music they sing, he said that it has a unique taste, falling between American and traditional jazz.

“As a new band, we are sort of trying to discover ourselves. We want an identity. But our music is leaning more towards American jazz fused with traditional sounds,” said Sunday.

He said that they have been working on perfecting their performance because they want to enter the live music scene with a bang.

“We would want to be known after the Friday show because this is our only chance to show the people who we are, and that The Brothers Trio is born. We will also give the fans a chance to connect while also offering them a chance to showcase their hidden talents by inviting them on stage to perform with us their composition,” added Mathekga.

A ticket for the show costs P100. The entrance fee also includes some finger foods or snacks.
