Diagnofirm donates water tank

For a number of years now, Bokamoso Richfelt Mogorosi, 25, originally from Tonota, was a permanent feature at the Middle Star shopping complex parking space where, at first he would badger shoppers and Diagnofirm Medical Laboratories (DML) clients for coins and food to keep hunger pangs at bay.

Last year, Mogorosi put up some crude structure on the Nyerere Drive, on a space adjacent to the shopping complex’s parking space. But he could only manage to wash five cars on a good day, he said, which was not enough for him to feed and pay rent for himself.  “We realised he was serious about doing something with his life.  We decided to offer him the 10,000 litre tank so that he can start a business. We want him and his friends to make an honest living. With this water tank, he can wash as many cars as possible and still be left with enough to do other business with, like selling the water,” Chand said, who added that they were in the habit of assisting the under-privileged.

Mogorosi said he was grateful for the donation as it means, together with his three fellow car washers, they would be able to work smoothly and be able to rake in more business.

“It was very tough in 2015 when I started this business. We had no water and could only afford to wash up to five cars before water is finished. We are now going to wash as many as possible and make as much money as possible.”

DML’s mantra seems to be, “no matter how small the contribution (donation) one makes”, the effect is felt by a huge part of the population and they have lived that aphorism with the donations they have made over the years to members of the community, especially the underprivileged.
