Mmegi is reliably informed that recently DCEC operatives came and whisked away Timothy Clarence Moesi, the Local Authorities Procurement and Asset Disposal (LAPAD) secretary based in Masunga.

He was later released. Allegations have now surfaced of his involvement in unethical conduct relating to the P2 million tenders for the construction of two tribal offices at Kgari and Matenge villages within the North East District.

Moesi is suspected to have been involved in acts of collusion and bribery relating to the two projects at both Kgari and Matenge, a matter that is freshly under DCEC investigations.

He has not been able to answer for himself, as efforts to reach him were futile at press time.

Although our sources have intimated that actual charge(s) that Moesi will face are yet to be determined, as it is still at the infancy stage of their investigations, it’s apparent that the holding charge is that of corruption.

NEDC council secretary, Kwata Botana confirmed this week that Moesi was last week arrested, detained and released by the DCEC on allegations of corruption relating to the work of the office he held.

He would, however, not discuss what charges the DCEC preferred against Moesi referring all enquiries on the subject to the DCEC office.

Quizzed about what action they will take as the NEDC and the parent Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development against the suspected employee, Botana retorted: “Please note that we are unable to respond to that question in the meantime since the matter is still under investigation by the DCEC”.

Efforts to confirm the actual charges preferred against Moesi were futile at press time as the DCEC spokesperson Phakamile Kraai was yet to respond to questions sent to him early this week despite his telephone confirmation that he has received the questionnaire.
