Dramaboi Mesmerises Mahikeng

By the time he hit the stage around 9pm, the already warmed-up crowd sang and danced alongside. The talented Dramaboi, who was surely on a quest to hoist the country’s flag, kick started his performance with his song, Candy. By the time he performed Bosigo Jotlhe, the already filled Mmabatho Stadium was on its toes humming along until he closed his set with Thari Ya Sechaba.

“I must say that I was impressed with the crowd’s response as it felt like home, they sang along, which means that they might have heard of me before. 

“It was actually my second time performing in South Africa even though it now felt like it was the first time. People should look out for more of my performances this side because I think it is time to expand my horizon,” he said.

Dramaboi’s talent has also impressed South African queen of motswako Fifi Cooper with whom Showtime has learnt that Dramaboi is in talks for a possible collaboration.

Other local acts, Sereetsi and the Natives as well as Samantha Mogwe were scheduled to perform at the jazz festival, which was headlined by American sensation, Anthony Hamilton, Shekinah, Amanda Black, Kelly Khumalo, Lady Zamar, Selaelo Selota, Zahara, Sands, Sho Majozi, Brenda Mtambo, Mlindo the vocalist and Kabelo Bouga Luv.

Sereetsi who in not new to the South African stage was courted during the Gaborone International Music and Culture Week by the Mahika Mahikeng organisers. Mahika Mahikeng is an art economic development programme aligned to the province’s objectives.

The cultural festival provides a platform for product positioning and paradigm innovation for the creative sector in Bokone Bophirima for the development of Mahikeng as the capital of the arts in SA.

The week-long festival also had a comedy night on Thursday where Dr Tumi, Benjamin Dube, Sipho Ngwenya, Lebo Sekgolela and Omega Divine performed.
