Godisamang had, in 2015, become the first official to make the AFCON finals cut. Bondo has been rewarded for his tireless efforts, which underlines his status as one of the continent’s best whistle man. He has handled a number of high profile tournaments, with only the AFCON finals, the missing piece on the continent, in his glittering career.

He joins 16 other referees from across the continent for the January 17 to February 4 tournament.

In fact there are only two referees from the southern region selected for the Gabon tournament, with Daniel Bennett the other. National referees committee chairperson, Edwin Senai said Bondo, as always, has made the country proud.

“He is determined and always does his best. We have never had any negative reports wherever he goes. He is committed to his job,” Senai said.

He also took time to shower praises on Botsalo Mosimanewatlala who is fresh from officiating at the women’s AFCON in Cameroon as an assistant referee.

“She has been excelling. We might soon see her in the Premier League if she passes her fitness test. She did very well in Cameroon,” Senai said.
