Ex-BCL Mine employee up for attempted murder, arson

The state alleges that John Mmereki, 57, attempted to murder his wife Rebaone Mmereki at Topisi village on August 24, 2016. 

In the second count, the state alleges that Mmereki attempted to murder the mother of his wife Keitumetse Bontsi on the said day at the same village. 

In the last count, the state alleges that Mmereki set his mother-in-law’s house on fire on that fateful day. 

However, the case did not proceed as scheduled because the pro deo attorney who earlier on represented the accused recused himself from the matter. 

The state will appoint another attorney for the accused person next year. Justice Gaolapelwe Ketlogetswe set the matter for another mention on February 27, 2o19.
