“No more Rick Ross show, even though the show organisers have not yet released an official statement, Paparazzi can confirm that the Rick Ross show, which was slated for Dec 31 is cancelled. Rick Ross won’t be coming to Botswana as advertised,” read the Facebook post.

The Facebook post caused confusion on social media yesterday with fans not sure what to believe. Many hip-hop pundits on social media questioned the legitimacy of the event in the beginning but the show organisers had managed to work on building the trust until now.

In an interview with Showbiz, one of the show organisers Alice Naygilit said the show would go on as scheduled despite the false reports. “We haven’t released any statement about canceling the show and we are not going to do that because nothing has changed,” she said.

Naygilit said they have contacted the owner of the page to retract the false statement. She said the owner of the page Daniel Dan Kenosi has distanced himself from the post citing his partners as the authors of the statement. Kenosi’s statement was later retracted on the same platform at the requests of the show organisers. “It has since came to our attention that Paparazzi was misinformed about the cancelled Rick Ross show, we are sorry for the error and we wish Fables and MTN all the best,” read the statement. Efforts to reach Kenosi for comment was futile as his phone rang unanswered.

Naygilit said people should not listen to anyone who is not the organiser nor MTN Business. She said they have started releasing the local supporting acts such as Apollo D. The Love and war rapper has been campaigning to be part of the show since the word go.

DJ Izzy of Yarona FM has also been announced as the host in what is going to be the biggest hip-hop show in Botswana. Other artists in the supporting lineup will be announced soon.

MTN Business Botswana, Trace Urban, Trace Africa, Brand Resolve, Urban Soul, Webtickets and Kopanong FM power the event. Tickets for the show are already available at WebTickets, with the standard ticket at P500, golden Circle is P800 and VIP is P2000.
