“Yes, we have agreements with about four companies who will be assisting us this season,” he said.

“Negotiations are sealed save for one and the value of the sponsorship combined is over half a million pula but I can’t mention names or details now until we launch, we are busy preparing for the launch.”

Saleshando said although they have managed to acquire sponsorship they are still far off their target. He said during the sponsorship launch, they will also unveil a new kit with their sponsors’ logos on the shirts.

“It gives us a bit of hope to have managed to find some assistance, but we are still far off our budget of P3.5 million a season. We have space in our shirts for more sponsors and we are still looking out for some to come on board,” he said.

He said things are finally looking up at the club and they are enjoying a good start thanks to the players and the technical team. “We must give credit to our players. It’s hard to believe this is the same crop of players we had last season when we faced trying times.

“The players are working well with the technical team and we are optimistic of a good run in the league and good results make attracting sponsors a little bit easier,” he added. Sankoyo escaped relegation by a whisker last season and had a thorny off-season that saw the players and club management at each others’ throats at some point over outstanding allowances and that affected their preparations. The arrival of Serbian coach, Draglo Stanlojovic has, however, turned the fortunes of the Maun-based side and they are enjoying a good start that saw them slaying Mochudi Centre Chiefs and holding on-song Extension Gunners to a draw among others in their opening games.

Sankoyo are fifth on the log after seven games with three wins, a draw, and having lost one.
