LSB goes for council elections

The LSB, which mainly discharges its mandate through the council, has been under the leadership of veteran lawyer Kgalalelo Monthe as the chairperson. Monthe is not seeking re-election.

Every two years, members of the society duly elect the council that consists of seven members all whom are legal practitioners.

The council is then empowered to provide strategic leadership for the society and formulate policies for the implementation by the executive secretary and the secretariat in general.

In the coming elections, the council will be made up of five members who have experience above seven years while the remaining two members will come from the other categories of experience from below seven years to three years.

The current nominees consist of a number of 17 practitioners including the current deputy chairperson of the society Kambai, current members Ricardo Seabueng and Miriam Mokgethi. Seabueng is the LSB representative at the Judicial Service Commission.

Other notable nominees include Kabo Motswagole, Thapelo Mphala and Joram Matomela. Also contesting are Samuel Plaatjie, Ndulamo Morima, Chedza Ntobedzi, Phatsimo Mphetolang, Setso Mokoti, Bonolo Selelo, Moagi Moloi and Nkepe Mabulu. 

The outgoing council comprises

Monthe and Kambai as chairperson and vice respectively and members Mokgethi, Kusigani Mbambo, Tiroyaone Abigail Ezekiel, Seabueng and Paul Muzimo.
