Moswaane said some people have been labelling him as an illiterate MP, but even without having those doctorates, masters or degree qualifications, he is confident about himself and knows that he even qualifies to lead the country.
“I might not be having higher qualifications, but I love this country. Ever since you elected me to Parliament, I have been representing you well and I am confident and ready for any challenge. I can even be the president of this country,” said Moswaane.
He said he is in four committees in Parliament, something that shows that even the current President Ian Khama trusts him to be part of decision-making.
“If I was illiterate and not fit to be part of Parliament as some people claim, I would not be part of Parliament committees. I might not be having doctorate qualifications, but I am capable of being a leader. I urge you to continue voting for BDP and offer me the support to establish my strengths,” Moswaane said. Moswaane said despite being dismissed as an illiterate MP, he is confident that when given a chance he can lead well because he loves Batswana.
“How can people trouble me and laugh at me because I am not educated and not holding higher qualifications like them? I might not be having such qualifications, but I have something that differentiates me from other people,” Moswaane said.
The MP for Francistown East, Buti Billy shared Moswaane’s sentiments that he (Moswaane) is a great leader and the electorates should continue voting for him.
He said for the past years that Moswaane was a councillor, mayor and now MP, he has proven himself as a great leader and they should continue voting for him as such.
“Moswaane knows your issues at heart. This is the man who can weep in Parliament just for Batswana to be treated properly. Despite not holding higher qualifications, when given the chance, Moswaane can continue to be a great leader. He cares about you and what you need,” Billy said.
Billy added that Moswaane fought for greater development in Monarch when he was a councillor and the greater Francistown during the time he was holding the position of mayor.
He called on constituents to understand that since Moswaane is now an MP, he has a lot of responsibilities at Parliament hence will be spending most of the time in Gaborone attending Parliament sessions.
“Do not be misled by anyone telling you that since you have voted him, he has abandoned and migrated to Gaborone. He is now an MP and representing Batswana, not the people of Francistown West constituency only,” Billy said. The city mayor, Sylvia Muzila also encouraged constituents to continue voting for Moswaane as he is a great leader who fought for Francistown to be where it is today.
“I plead with you to return Moswaane to Parliament come 2019 because he is a great leader. I have also learnt a lot from him in politics,” Muzila said.
