BIMC beefs up line up

The three-day conference, which is set to start today at Cresta President Hotel, boasts of local and international facilitators from organisations such as Channel O, SAMRO, KZN Music Imbizo, KUMISA, BOCRA, HRDC and individuals.
The various facilitators are experts in different fields on the business side of music such as technology in music, royalties, brand management, music sales, copyrights, substance abuse, festival management and music education to mention just a few.
“This year’s conference is bigger than last year. We have beefed up the number of facilitators, we have even brought experts from outside the country so they can share knowledge on how business is handled and help local artists penetrate the international scene,” BIMC head, Seabelo Modibe said.
He noted that bringing facilitators from different backgrounds to the conference will add impetus to the local music industry as vast knowledge will be shared. Modibe noted that this is also a networking platform as local music industry players will get to engage with these facilitators some of whom are decision makers.
Within the three days the conference will have covered different themed workshops, which the facilitators will do according to their professions and expertise.
There are different workshops such as Southern African Music Industry Landscape, Royalty Management and Legacy building In Africa, Brand Management and fighting Substance Abuse.
The three-day event is open, but to be eligible one has to register online, as only 200 people are permitted. Registration for the conference is closing on Friday. Within the three days the event will be starting at 8am ending at 5pm.
Some of the individuals that will be facilitating at BIMC include Masie Hule, Zenzele Hirschfeld, Channel O’s Melanie Abrahamse, KZN Imbizo’ Sphe Mbele and SAMRO CEO, Andre Le Roux. The first installation of BIMC was last year. It consisted of a number of music business intellectuals that were facilitating.
