BPL reviews Rollers� missile throwing incidents

Some supporters associated with Rollers are accused of throwing missiles at their team’s technical team following a 3-2 loss to their rivals at the National Stadium on Saturday.
Yesterday, acting BPL chief executive officer (CEO), Thabo Ntshinogang said they were to meet to discuss among other things the incident.
“We are meeting later today (Tuesday) to look at all these so that if there is any action or advise, the committee can do that. We will make an official statement after the meeting,” he said. Rollers’ management on the other hand has condemned the behaviour associated with their supporters at their Premiership match against Mochudi Centre Chiefs on Saturday. Rollers’ supporters allegedly threw items at their technical team following the 3-2 loss to rivals.
The supporters were reportedly irked by the technical team’s technical decisions on the day, which saw Chiefs expose them at the back. Rollers played with four natural wingers on the day and left strikers, Kekaetswe Moloi and Terrence Mandaza on the bench. They also played with three defenders on the day and one holding midfielder, Lawrence Majawa. Chiefs on the other hand played two sitting midfielders, Lesego Molemogi and Lesego Galenamotlhale while Dirang Moloi played more of an offensive role. Yesterday, club spokesperson, Bafana Pheto said it was unsporting and immoral to violently show displeasures by throwing items at the technical team or match officials. “We further, ask you to revise your persona and the team’s image by such a behaviour that we display due to anger. We may argue and distance ourselves as not the doers but the deeds are attached to us. It is totally unacceptable and we, as a brand cannot like to be associated to such deeds,” Pheto urged the supporters through the club’s Facebook page yesterday. He further said as the club, they must discipline themselves or wait to be disciplined. “If we wait, it shall be painful, especially in the era of Botswana football. We condemn the behaviour we displayed and I challenge you all to guard our team’s integrity. The behaviour we displayed has a potential to chase peaceful, prospective and current crop of sponsors or investors,” he said.
He said no professional and business magnate would want to associate with intolerable and unsporting behaviour that was shown by the supporters on Saturday. “We know losing to MCC is a pinch to our skins and cannot be celebrated by any loyal supporter, but we must put it to ourselves that we are competing and not oversized to be only a team of positivity,” he added.
