TASC lodged a protest against Chouka’s use of Kabo Wetshoemang in the fixture they lost 3-1 a fortnight ago against the Palapye side in an encounter played in Palapye.

If found guilty, Chouka could lose three points and two goals for the encounter or more if other teams lodge a similar protest. Debswana First Division North office has confirmed receiving the protest from TASC and said they have written to Motlakase.

“We have received a protest from TASC on game number 40, a fixture between Motlakase and TASC,” First Division North secretary general, Rapula Gaothobogwe said.

“TASC was protesting against the use of one Kabo Wetshoemang by Motlakase who they argue is not properly registered and we have written to Motlakase to show course why action could not be taken against them.”

According to close sources, Wetshoemang is registered with both Motlakase and his former side, Palapye All Stars. He joined All Stars in January and took part in the club’s second round of last season’s games. When registering the player, Motlakase are said to have bypassed All Stars and instead registered the player from his former side Maletamotse.

Palapye All Stars declined to comment on the matter. “We don’t want to be drawn into this matter,” was all All Stars chairman, Molefi Obenne could say. Motlakase chairman, Gaolathe Kelesitse said nothing has reached their desk concerning the protest and they are not aware that TASC have lodged a protest.

“We have not received any letter and we don’t know that TASC has lodged a protest against us,” he said.

When quizzed about the player in question Kelesitse said: “As far as we are concerned we don’t have any player who is not properly registered and we are careful enough to avoid any wrongdoing in that regard. We also cross check our records on cards every week ahead of our games to ensure we use eligible players.

“If there is anything of that nature (protest), we will follow it up and we believe if anything our management would have been misled and we will take action.”

Motlakase have been in a remarkable form winning four of their past five games, which has seen them overtake BR Highlanders at the top of the log.
