Making children smile earns Mister Gaborone gold

He scooped the Heart of Africa award where contestants had to showcase the projects they founded since their crowning. In his projects since winning Mister Gaborone, Kgaolo came up with Seas of Smile campaign, which its mandate is to work with underprivileged children. Since he was crowned, he dedicated his time in empowering and improving the lives of those around him.
“My projects were the best in Africa therefore winning a medal. The project that won me this medal is the one where I partnered with some of Botswana Post Foundation members and Chyna Mokaila where we bought groceries and cooked for about 100 Save My Soul (SOS) children’s village in Tlokweng. We played and fed the children,” he said.
Kgaolo said he has always being passionate about working with children, hence he chose to put a smile on their faces throughout his term and after his reign. He said he had learnt that they could not change the world, but could do their part to make it a better place with the little they could.
He said during Mister Africa International pageantry, he made it to top five models that were won by Cameroon. He also made it to the top seven finalists where the winners were judged looking at the projects they were given throughout the competitions. “When in Nigeria, I learnt a lot about African countries and its diverse cultures by interacting with all other contestants from different African countries,” he said.
However, he pointed out that getting sponsors for his trip was not easy as some of them came on board late. He however thanked everyone and all the business entities that supported him for making his trip possible. He urged the business community and other stakeholders to support the local pageantry market so that in future many Batswana could be seen bringing different prestigious crowns to the country.
Kgaolo will be hosting the winner of Mister Africa International from Tanzania and a few other pageant winners and their runners-up next year where they would get an opportunity to learn about our culture and meeting Batswana. He said that would sell local tourism internationally.
