Coetzee was addressing clients and other stakeholders at a highly attended end of year breakfast session held at Phakalane Golf Resort recently.

He said though they are still one of the youngest banks in the country, through their customers they have managed to grow over the past 10 years. Bank Gaborone’s first branch at Capricon House opened its doors on September 18, 2006 after Bank of Botswana awarded them a banking licence in February 2006.

The bank’s recent branch was officially opened in Palapye in May this year. Over the past 10 years, the bank has evolved from one branch to eight branches across the country.

To date, Bank Gaborone has 12 unsecured lending finance offices, 14 automated teller machines (ATM) and a “myriad” of retail products and services ranging from transaction accounts to electronic channels, business banking, SME banking and treasury services, said Coetzee.

The managing director said all their efforts are designed to provide their clients with the ultimate banking experience.

“We are currently in the process of enhancing our E-pula Internet banking solution with the specific aim of making it more user friendly”, said Coetzee about one of their services.

Coetzee added that their Tobetsa mobile banking solution allows customers at the press of a button to transfer funds, buy pre-paid electricity and pay for their monthly Dstv subscription among others.

Coetzee told clients that Bank Gaborone made a profit after tax of P18 million and P4.4 billion in assets as at June 2016.

When revealing their first insurance product to the clients, Bank Gaborone’s manager specialist finance, Potlako Molomo said the Rotlhe Funeral Policy is for both their customers and non-customers.  “This policy allows anyone to cover their immediate and extended family members at competitive premiums,” Molomo said.  She said the policy allows subscribers to give their deceased a dignified burial.

The funeral policy is under the bank’s Insurance Agency established on July 12, 2016 and registered with NBFIRA.

The  policy is underwritten by Botswana Life.

Molomo said as the name suggest, Rotlhe, which means ‘all of us’, the bank does not want anyone to be left behind.

“We give you the peace of mind; knowing that you are well covered,” Molomo assured the clients.
