Gilport Lions played to a 0-0 draw with Uniao Flamengo Santos at Lekidi Football ground on Saturday.

TAFIC also played to a goalless draw against Great North Tigers (GNT) in the Francistown derby.  Lions are currently sitting at the top with 23 points from 10 games.

Their lead however was cut to five points by second placed Broadhurst United who registered an important 1-0 victory over Blue Stars on Saturday.

The lofg leaders have only lost one game despite losing several key players at the end of last season. Coach, Mandivenga Paradzai opted for youngsters and the decision appears to be paying dividends as they look to make a quick return to the Premier League.

Broadhurst United who entered the Debswana First Division by storm last season seem to have continued where they left off last season. They have so far collected 18 points and look set to at least make it to the play-offs if their current position is anything to go by.

Matebejana and Jwaneng Fighters are sitting at positions three and four with 16 points each. Both sides failed to register victories on Saturday with Matebejana playing to a 0-0 draw against Black Rangers while Jwaneng Fighters drew 2-2 with red Sparks. Modipane United look set to be heading for relegation after losing 2-0 to Mochudi Rovers. United have collected just five points from 10 games.

In the north, second placed Morupule Wanderers cut TAFIC’s lead at the top to just a single point after beating Sua Flamingoes 2-1 on Saturday.

Flamingoes however remain in the third position despite the loss while Motlakase Power Dynamos also remained in position four despite the loss to Nico United.
