Two remanded in custody for possession of explosives, shop breaking

In the first count, the state alleges that Ndlovu entered Botswana illegally sometimes in April 2017 at or near Ramokgwebana border. 

In the second count, the state alleges that Molaodi, Ndlovu and two others not before court, were unlawfully found in possession of 17 detonating cords and 12 emulsion solutions suspected to be explosives on November 14, 2018 at or near Barclays Bank in Francistown.

In the last count, the state alleges that Molaodi and Ndlovu broke into Pep Stores on October 29, 2018 in Francistown and stole cash amounting to P83,182,70 and other goods.

The prosecutor in the matter inspector Mengistu Chigala told the court that investigations in the matters are still continuing. 

He applied for Ndlovu to be further remanded in custody because he is an illegal immigrant who may escape and not stand trial if he is granted bail since he does not have property or other interests that may keep him in Botswana. 

“I also make an application that Molaodi’s bail should be extended,” said Chigala.

The accused’s attorney Ishmael Molobe prayed with Magistrate Cele Lebakeng for Ndlovu to be taken to a medical facility for medical attention because he was not feeling well. 

Magistrate Lebakeng acceded to the applications made by the prosecution and defence.

She then set the matter for January 7, 2019 for status report.
