Okavango Festival spices up family fun day

The festival owner, KayBee Wasenda told Arts & Culture that this year’s festival will be combined with a family fun day after requests from some parents.
“From 6pm until 6am the following day, there will be performances. Our international guest artists are Makurunganga who though were not there last year, are now making a return to this festival,” she said.
Kaybee, who is a gospel artist said other artists from Namibia like Kirash will also be there. She said in terms of sponsors, Mascom will pay for the sound and the headline act being LaTimmy.
She said other sponsors include Visual Presence, Dropping Keys and KB Gospel Stars. “It is not too late for others to join in and change Okavango,” she said.
Kaybee said the event has grown because their level of giving back has increased and Okavango artists have penetrated mainstream music.
She also said that people should not confuse their festival with The Okavango Delta Music Festival, which was held for the first time this year.
“We are yet to meet with the owners of the event because this is confusing our partners and sponsors. We need to sort out this name issue,” she said. She said they have introduced the VIP ticket, which costs P200.
She said they expect more than 500 people with tickets available in Gumare, Maun, Shakawe, Etsha and Mohembo. Tickets for adults are P70 while children’s tickets cost P30.
