The annual Gaabo Motho Festival will take place on December 24, 2018 at Dladeng Recreational Park in Moshupa.

The event, which will now be on its fourth year, will have South African heavyweights headlining such as Durban’s finest DJ Tira, Lady Zamar, Zanda Zakuza and Master KG. Locally, the scene will be represented by Vee Mampeezy, La Timmy, Franco, Amantle Brown, Motlha, Culture Spears and many more.

The event promoter, Mabitso Kesenye told Arts & Culture this week that as a brand that is growing with every event, they intensify the line up on an annual basis so as to attract new revellers and still retain the existing and loyal ones hence the massive lineup.

“And again GMMF is the last show on our calendar every year so we had to go for the best being DJ Tira, Lady Zamar, Master KG and Zanda Zakusa from RSA,” he said.

While issues of crowd control and security have been a priority in festivals recently Kesenye said with the event will intensify security with even more personnel from private companies, bouncers, dogs and the local police force.  Kesenye said the fact that GGMF will be hosted for the first time under the administration of President Mokgweetsi Masisi, who comes from the hosting village, is an advantage.

“As people visit Moshupa to see where the first citizen originates, we will attract more people,” he said. Kesenye said they have Masisi’s blessing because he has been wearing their merchandise. Kesenye said they also partake in community projects like adoption of needy students and adoption of Mmanaana Junior Secondary school under adopt-a-school initiative.

“We have grown through leaps and bounds. We started with a few attendees, line up and sponsors,” he highlighted.

Normal tickets are sold at P150 in advance and P200 at the gate.  Double tickets cost P250.
