Kenosi ready to battle for Miss World title

Kenosi will battle it out with other beauty queens from different countries around the world. The Miss World 2016 process starts month end as the models will be assessed by different experts up until the grand finale.
“I would like to believe that I am more than well-equipped, ready to now hoist my country’s flag. I have been going under intense training and coaching, which makes me believe that I am now ready,” said the golden jubilee queen.
Kenosi has been going through different forms of training that range from fitness, speech execution, vocal training, etiquette and grooming. Different experts in respective fields trained her. As part of her talent display, Kenosi has chosen to sing.
With Kenosi eyeing the crown to be the first Motswana to win the title she is doing her research to suss out her competition.
“I am familiar with a couple of contestants that will be participating in the pageant. I checked them out online. I even interacted with Miss Slovenia and Miss Uganda. I believe the competition is pretty thick it needs one to be on top of their game. I am excited to meet the rest of the girls and share experiences with them,” Kenosi said.
Despite admitting that competition is stiff, Kenosi is excited to be one of the Miss World contestants as she noted that this is a new experience and challenge for her. She is willing to fully experience and take her best shot at it.
The beauty queen will have a send off at Sir Seretse Khama International Airport prior to her departure.
A few days after receiving the crown from Miss Botswana 2015 Seneo Mabengano, Kenosi was accused of having tattoos on the neck and chest, which critics said were not permitted by Miss World regulations. The accusations were at fever pitch to the extent that they grabbed international media attention.
When quizzed if she is not afraid of her tattoos being seen during the boot camp sessions at the Miss World she said, “I don’t believe they would want to see anything, I don’t have any visible tattoos so they won’t be sure at any point and I am sure they won’t see them”.
She noted that the pageant is not just about physical appearance, but also goes beyond the exterior.
Kenosi admitted that the tattoo accusations experience was a difficult period in her life.
She said: “I managed to overcome that whole experience by simply staying strong through the support I received support from my family, friends and organisations around me. I found myself kneeling down and praying to God”.
During her period as the reigning queen Kenosi says that she has grown as an individual. “I have learnt that a lot of things don’t come easy. You have to work extremely hard and keep a level headed mindset. You can change your own mental capacity and how people view you. In every challenge you have to come above the rest. The Thata Kenosi I was before was naïve, the Thata now grabs the whole world above her”.
Apart from competing at Miss World Kenosi noted that she will take upon herself to market Botswana to the world. “We have over 15 tribes in Botswana and all of them have different dances. So I decided to learn different dance moves such as speru, setapa, polka and hosana that I will showcase in Washington DC to the other contestants”.
The 66th edition of Miss World will put the contestants through a series of challenges and interviews to determine who will win the coveted title and become the ambassador of ‘Beauty with a Purpose’.
