After failing his first year at the country’s highest institution of learning, he decided to use his God given skills to make a living.

Currently Senwelo is the proprietor of CRACKiT tuition Botswana and CRACKiT Cracking Revision book series. He recently opened CRACKiT English Medium Pre-school and Day Care Centre.

“Passion drove me to what I am today. I was good at Maths and Science and aced them during my BGCSE. After failing I started tutoring a few students at Naledi Senior Secondary School and by then I was also a peer counselling volunteer,” he said.

It was three months later when he decided to open his own tuition centre after getting many requests from students from other schools. Senwelo started off with tutoring Maths and Science for Senior Secondary School students until three years later in 2014 when he found a partner and they diversified.

According to Senwelo, they branded their business ‘Word Crackers Tutorials’ and offered more subjects and started catering for primary and junior school students.

“It was a year of my breakthrough, we grew professionally and even published five revision books, three science based, another one Maths and English. People also started recognising us because most of our students were doing great with their examinations,” he said.

A year later, they opened their first branch in Mochudi followed by another one in Maun, Francistown and Selibe-Phikwe.“We then parted ways with my partner; he remained with the Gaborone branch and I took the rest and renamed my business CRACKiT.  Out of 16 CRACKiT tutorial centres across Botswana, I own nine of them and the seventh is a franchise,” he said. CRACKiT offers tutorials for standard one up to form five students. Senwelo has three entrepreneurial books under his belt, Making of Teen entrepreneur; Success is a choice and Becoming an entrepreneur.

“These books basically highlights that entrepreneurship is a career on its own, one does not have to wait to lose the job to become one. They also have tips on how to excel academically and what it takes for one to become an entrepreneur,” he said.

He further urged aspiring entrepreneurs to be patient highlighting that sometimes it takes longer to penetrate the market.

Senwelo also has plans to penetrate the regional market noting that he is assessing it.  He said he ensures that he is always a step ahead of their competitors. He often conducts workshops and seminars in different places in the country to inspire aspiring entrepreneurs to start their own businesses.
