He added that there was also a shortage of goal posts especially for Under-13 teams.

“Some teams did not have kits as we are yet to receive equipment from the BFA. We however believe that the situation will have been rectified by next week when all the teams will have been given their equipment,” said Moloi.

The Youth League has under 13, 15, 17 teams and is the brain-child of the new Botswana Football Association (BFA) president, Maclean Letshwiti. Letshwiti launched the programme last week, whose objective is to develop football at grassroot level. In the weekend Under-15 matches played here, No Mathata and Maholosa shared the points after playing to a 3-all draw. Makanyane beat Granada 4-3 while Raising Stars walloped Sweepers 5-2. In the Under-13 Boys category, Sweepers and Raising Stars drew 2-2 while Makanyane defeated Granada by 2-1.

There was only one game played in the Under-17 boys category, where Granada trounced Makanyane 5-1.
