Event coordinator, Michael Sekaba who is also the youthful founder of Uncle Dipopae Party Events, said in an interview that the event would also celebrate its third anniversary.

He said each year, they bring artistes from South Africa to exchange their skills and ideas with local ones, more especially new-kids-on-the-block on how they could use their talents to put food on their tables.

“Since the installation of this project, I have brought various South African talents more especially those in different media platforms. My dream is to see upcoming artistes, more especially those from Kanye and neighbouring areas grow their brands and be able to make a living with their talents,” he said. Sekaba added that he would be donating part of the proceedings of the event to one of the schools in the village as a contribution towards their prize-giving ceremony.

This gesture is one of their mandate to encourage pupil to excel in their academics.  However, he pointed out that organising such a huge event was not easy, as he had to pay artistes partaking at the event in order for them to perfprm. He said they needed financial support from various stakeholders so that they could empower fellow artistes. He however pointed out that would not discourage him as he intends to grow the event.

Sekaba further thanked Bangwaketse and Batswana at large for supporting his Gamaila Back2Sghela. He said since they started three years back, Batswana have lent great support to the event as evidenced by its exponential growth, growing bigger and better every year. Sekaba is confident and positive that the event would be a hit this year going forward, stating that in future, it would promote local artistes.

“In the coming years, the event will be calling some of the renowned and upcoming local artists so that we support our artists. Our intention is not to give the international artists more mileage whereas overshadowing our own talents. We have immense talent in Botswana. All we have to do is appreciate it,” he said.

ATI will be headlining the event. Other local acts that will be performing at the event include Spikes Lehipi (Kanye), Psycho King also from Kanye, Flexiville and others.

Early bird tickets are sold at P40, P50 general, P60 at the gate and P200 for the VIP lounge, parking, red carpet, access of the celebrities, free photo shoots, autograph and finger foods.
