Womens league sticks to old structure

The changes, made with FIFA assistance will kick-in next season with teams using the old structure in the 2016/2017 season, which starts tomorrow. In 2014 FIFA delegates advised the BFA that the league did not meet the necessary requirements to be called a super league hence the BFA should come up with a new format.
The association’s spokesperson, Tumo Mpatane had earlier told Mmegi Sport that the league would be played at regional structures, with the winners advancing to the inter-regional play-offs while the championships would be determined at the national championship playoffs.
The association resolved that the new structures would be implemented in the next season while the current season that is set to start tomorrow would use the old format.
“The league will be called the Women’s league rather than the Super league or Regional leagues for this season. The changes will be put in place for the next season due to time constraints,” Mpatane said.
Meanwhile, Gaborone United who had a rather busier transfer window would battle it out with Meat Girls at the Water Utilities grounds tomorrow, while Matlhogonolo Mokgosi would make his coaching debut as his side, UB Kicks welcome Kanye Swallows at the UB Stadium. Newly promoted FC Ambassadors play Prisons at the Prisons grounds, while Wonder Girls will take on Makufa SC. On Sunday Township Rollers will kick off their campaign with South East Girls at the MmaMasire grounds while former UB kicks coach Alex Malete would be looking to kick start his Double Action career with a win as they visit Big Sisters at the Ledumang grounds. All the games will start at 4pm.
