Softball League Postponed On Fixture Changes

League action was scheduled to resume following the festive season break, but BSA general manager-south, Kelebogile Ditsele said they were forced to postpone due to fixture changes.  She said clubs had been informed on the rescheduling, and games will continue on Saturday. When the league went to recess, Vikings were top of the women’s log with eight points after winning all their matches while Police IX are second, two points behind.

Wells International are third with four points. Dinare and BMC Rivals are both at the wrong end of the table, after failing to win a single match.

Vikings leads the men’s competition with eight points followed by UB Giants who have also accumulated eight points.

On the other hand, Gatalamotho are third with six points after three wins and one loss. BMC Rivals, Bears and Blue Angels are struggling at the bottom after failing to secure any win. Wells team manager, Gabobofane Gabobofane welcomed the postponement of the league. “The postponement was a blessing for us. It has given us time to prepare and we are in camp as we speak.

By next weekend, we would be ready to compete,” he said.  Gabobofane said all players have reported for camp. He said they have not lost any player during the current transfer window, which closes on January 30. Wells men are in position seven with four points.

“We started the league on a high note especially the men’s side. We intend correcting those mistakes.  It has been a struggle,” he said. Wells last tasted league glory in 2015 for the women’s side, while the men’s team won the championship, a year later.

As a result, Gabobofane said it was now overdue that his sides claim some silverware. Wells, however, tasted success at last year’s Phikwe Extravaganza in both the men and women sections.

Gabobofane said they want to continue with the preparations as part of fine-tuning for the Extravaganza, where his teams do not play the eliminators, but go straight to the tournament proper.
