Reikeletseng has been at the helm of BNSC for eight years, but dropped the bombshell on Thursday morning.  He said he did not want personal issues to affect the running of the BNSC.

This is a conscious decision arrived at because of the love I have for sport and I would not allow any of my personal and business arrangements to affect the work that has been done by men and women of this country for more than five decades,Ó he said.

Reikeletseng said the decision would give him time to deal with some unfortunate incidents from his business interests with a view to conclude the matters with his stakeholders amicably.

His Itekanele business was recently closed and there are allegations over his Modumo Entertainment Company, failing to settle dues after a music show in Maun over the festive season.

ÒBatswana deserve better. They deserve leadership that is accountable for its actions, leadership that is willing to sacrifice itself for the love of their country or for the love of the industry they lead,Ó he said.

ReikeletsengÕs term was due to end in July when the Minister of Youth Empowerment, Sport and Culture Development, Tshekedi Khama was to appoint a new chairperson.
