Black Gypsy assembles poets in Colourful Black

The album encompasses rich, soulful and beautiful poems and brings together different local poets under one roof where each has elegantly recited his or her poem. It showcases the beauty of poetry as most of the pieces are told in a way that makes it more appealing to poetry fanatics.
Mosekiemang told Arts & Culture that Word of Mouth is a poetry concept composed of 14 tracks including an intro.
She said the project started back in 2012. However, she pointed out that even though she started that project a few years back, she did not know which concept to take up until she met with different poets during the President’s Day annual competition.
“I met with different poets at the constituency competitions where I decided to collaborate with them. I made a call out and they came to record their poems at the studio. The reason why this project took long is because the poets did not come in a group, but rather a single person per recording session,” explained Mosekiemang.
“However, I am thankful that I was finally able to put this album together. I also took time releasing it because I was still saving up some money so that when I give my fans a finished product, it could be appealing to poetry fanatics.” She added that she wanted its cover, audio and beats to be top-notch. The album does not only compose poetry but music, rhythm and instruments making it even more appealing to the general public.
This album does not have any specific theme. Its mandate was to celebrate local poets. According to Mosekiemang, she gave all the poets an opportunity to recite their poets looking at various topics, as she did not want to limit them. She said she wanted them to spread their wings and showcase their talents.
The album has poems like Wa Pelo, a love poem, Black is Beautiful where a poet talks of the beauty of being an African. It also has a poem like Bohutsana which is about the ordeal of being an orphan.
“I believe that all the poets have outdone themselves. Their poems are very beautiful and special in their unique ways to me. However, one of the poems that I like in this album includes Black Is Beautiful,” she said.
“I love black because it is beautiful. I love my black culture. I also love Take Me Back, a poem by Mmakgosi Annita Tau. I just love how she has recited it and how she has expressed her feelings. This does not mean that I don’t appreciate all the poems because I have worked with excellent poets on this album.”
Mosekiemang said she targeted to sell 50, 000 units and added that it would also be available online in ITunes, Google Play and Amazon. In this album, Mosekiemang has worked with various artists such as Kenaleone Mosekiemang, Blessing “Respect” Nyakawo, Fondi Molebatsi, Lebo “Enigwa” Tsiako, Kaamazengi Marenga, Kenaape Mohutsiwa, Inger Nature, Memory and Obakeng Moipolai. It was mixed and masters by Jayice and Gordno Spryt. It was produced at Empress Productions studio.
