The event organised by local urban youth radio station, Yarona FM will be held at Stanbic Bank Piazza but the awards ceremony will be hosted by South Africa’s Bonang Matheba alongside Loungo ‘King B’ Pitse. The event organisers believe that this is arguably the hottest lineup of the summer. Rapper Cassper Nyovest, who recently dropped a Kwaito album, which has received accolades on social media, will use the opportunity to give his local fans a taste of his latest offering while both ATI and Han C will want to show off why they are regarded Botswana’s finest.

Vee Mampeezy will also add his energy to the night.  “This YAMAs season is loaded. This weekend’s YAMAs pre-party demonstrates that the urban youth broadcaster, Yarona FM’s contribution to pop culture in Botswana for nearly two decades, is undeniable and admirable.

The announcement of the pre-party came as a pleasant surprise for many Batswana.

It will be a great opportunity for their personal favourites like Han C, ATI, Veezo View and Vee Mampeezy to share the stage and interact with the accomplished Cassper Nyovest, on a night that will celebrate BW music and regional interactions,” Yarona FM station manager, Kelly Ramputswa said. Ramputswa said that this would not just be a treat for the listeners, but the music industry too. This year marks the fifth that Yarona FM will be hosting its acclaimed music awards themed Retro 5.

The station will also celebrate 20 years since its first broadcast.  “This is how seriously the station takes its listener experience.

This year is about growth, networks, personal brand equity and commercialising the artist’s networks,” Ramputswa added.
