Ambitious Sefalana Diversify Business In 2019

 

The group is to launch latest divisions that include a water bottling factory and a fruit juice production facility at the same premises that houses its UHT milk production plant in Gaborone.

Unveiling the Group’s half year results for the six months ended October 31, 2018, the Group’s finance director, Mohamed Osman,  announced that Sefalana will be taking advantage of government’s decision to ban imported water by opening a water purification and bottling plant for the open market this year, as well as commencing the production of dairy juice blends at the same time. 

Osman said the government’s decision to ban water imports has proved that there is potential in the water sector in Botswana, as demand continue to grow.

The finance director also announced that as a result of their new production plans, they will be expanding their warehouse to accommodate the new volumes of their production lines.

The fruit juice production had been in the offing since Sefalana acquired Ramotswa-based fruit juice company a few years back. They have since relocated its juice production equipment to the same site of milk production at Block 3 Industrial, in Gaborone.

Osman also announced that Sefalana has entered  the  tertiary students’ bread and pastries supplies with a three-year contract for a bakery at the University of Botswana, which will see  the fast moving consumer goods giant  producing  all  sorts of pastries such as pies, pizza, bread varieties and beverages for the student community and those visiting the campus. Osman also announced that the Group’s catering division, headed by a chef hired from South Africa will be looking to enter the catering market with the aim to deliver goods to hotels, lodges, restaurants and catering markets, with the primary goal to take on the very best in the market to be the preferred supplier to food services industry.

Osman said the catering division, to be launched in the next few months will focus on supply and delivery of high quality fresh, frozen food and non-food catering equipment using temperature-controlled vehicles at competitive prices.
