The decision, which will be made by Companies and Intellectual Property Authority (CIPA), will determine if the awards go on as planned on Saturday or not.  Yarona FM and Ventura were expected to file their heads of argument by end of business yesterday to enable CIPA to consider the arguments advanced and to have the matter resolved by tomorrow.

CIPA spokesperson, Marietta Magashula confirmed that they indeed have such a case and it will be held on Thursday.  She said the decision would also be taken on the same day. “However, we would like to note that this hearing is not open to the public or the media,” she emphasised.

Chivazve, popularly known as Robbie Rob, told Showbiz that if the registrar’s decision were to go in their favour, they would cancel the awards.  He said currently they have engaged their lawyers and therefore they will take it one step at a time. “The registrar understands our urgency so we expect a decision to be made before Saturday,” he said.

The former presenter of The Feel Good Foundation was fired late last year alongside co-host Brando in what is alleged to have been a disagreement over the engagement of Bonang Matheba as the YAMAs host.

Efforts to reach Yarona FM station manager, Kelly Ramputswa were futile as her phone rang unanswered.

If the YAMAs get cancelled it will be the second awards within a week’s time after the Botswana Musicians Union (BOMU) Awards were cancelled last weekend following some members having taken the interim committee to court. If the awards gets cancelled it will be a big blow for the youthful radio station after they hosted the YAMAs pre-party last Saturday at Stanbic Bank Piazza. Cassper Nyovest headlined the pre-party.
