Man, 31, drowns in Moshupa Dam

Moshupa Police Station commander superintendent, David Ramoseki, said they received the report of the incident at around 5pm.

Ramoseki said the man who alerted the police of the incident said he was sitting nearby the dam at Maunatlala ward in Moshupa, whilst the deceased was on the other side of the dam swimming.  Ramoseki added that the witness said that the man suddenly disappeared.

“That evening we asked for assistance from the police scuba diving team in Gaborone, who came and assessed the scene, because it was already dark.  The next morning the team commenced the search, which took close to two hours and ended up retrieving the man’s lifeless body.  He was taken to Moshupa clinic where he was certified dead by a doctor upon arrival,” Ramoseki said.

He said the deceased’s names are still withheld, until his family members are notified.  The deceased is a resident of Maunatlala. Ramoseki pleaded with members of the community to be cautious of water no matter the depth at all times, because it can be dangerous.
