In an exclusive interview with The Monitor CYH brand custodian Tshimologo Bonang, stated that they are humbled by the growth of the event, which started running in 2011 with a crowd of 2100 to 7500 last year stating that they appreciate the support they receive from their loyal followers.

He also said that for this year they will be going all out to ensure that they deliver an out of this world lifestyle event that will be memorable to their supporters. “For the sake of delivering a brilliant quality show, we started preparations which included sourcing and securing of stages, sound, lights and booking of artists as early as March this year,” he said.  Clap Your Hands is hosted annually in Palapye on December 24 and its name was inspired by Zakes Bantwini’s hit song Clap Your Hands at the festival’s 1st edition. The name signifies entertainment that has never been to Palapye before, which encourages social responsibility as well as exposing Palapye and its business community to the rest of the country.

Each edition has its own theme hence attracting international artists/Djs and most importantly Botswana acts. Year in and year out CYH gives a platform to upcoming local Djs and artist to show case their talents as a way of supporting and nurturing the arts industry. Because of the number of people it attracts and their diverse demography the event can be used by various companies as a marketing tool or vehicle.

Speaking to The Monitor, one of Botswana’s celebrated PR maven and a avid lifestyle events supporter Mercy Thebe, who was a celebrity guest along side South Africa Television Personalities Thato Molamu & Motlatsi Mafatshe at last year’s event, expressed that CYH has made it into her #NotToBeMissed annual events list alongside Swaziland’s MTNBushfire because of her overall experience, which she described as astounding. She praised the organisers for delivering a well organised event of international standard and said she cannot wait for the 2016 edition.

Clap Your Hands’ 6th Edition will be held under the theme CrazySexyCool embracing a tropical island kind of fun complete with pools, coconut cocktails, beachwear merchandise and games and fun activities. This year’s theme song which is expected to dominate airwaves will be released soon and will be available online for free downloads.

In an effort to engage and involve their supporters Flamboyant Entertainment has been running a voting competition where CYH supporters vote for their local Dj or Artist for this year’s lineup. Interestingly Heavy K has been unveiled as the 1st International Act much to the delight of the events loyal fans. Clearly this is one event to look out for and not miss this festive season.
