Masitara Shines As Wanderers Demolish City Greens

The First Division North (FDN) league encounter saw Wanderers winning 4-1 in a game that they  totally dominated.  Age may not be on his side, but the once feared former BDF XI and Nico United talisman epitomised almost every aspect of a thoroughbred striker against Mamoja Diski.

He burst past City Greens players at speed and with ease; a trait he was popular with some years back during his peak.

Masitara could have found the opener in the 11th minute after he literally shrugged off his opponents before unleashing a powerful shot that was parried out of play by goalie Keotshepile Nkonopang.

Seconds later, his goal-bound low shot was cleared by Tshepang Kamakama after he had navigated his way past defenders.

Masitara’s persistence paid off in the 20th minute when he beat an error-prone Nkonopang with a close header.

The foward had connected with a well taken cross from left. City Greens were made to pay for their casual approach to the game again in the 26th minute.

He easily beat an advancing Nkopanang after he had combined well with Katlego Ralegoreng.

Mamoja Diski’s only goal in the game came in the 39th minute through striker, Kenny Tarea who missed three consecutive chances in five minutes prior to his goal.

He connected well with a long ball from Nkonopang before cleverly beating the visitors’ goalie, Ontiretse Kolobe, at the far post.

The goal did little to boost the morale of City Greens’ players. Wanderers were awarded a free kick on the edge of the box three minutes before the break and  Keletille Terata scored from the resultant ball to solidify the visitors lead.

Wanderers took the match beyond Mamoja’s reach in 60th minute through Tebogo Moroka, who found the bottom left after he had connected with a neat low range pass inside the goal area.

The major part of the second stanza of the match did not produce sparks as City Greens were content with sitting back while Wanderers appeared comfortable with what they had achieved in the game.

Elite league promotion-chasing Wanderers remain second in the table with 30 points (out of 12 games), a point behind leaders TAFIC who at the time of going to press were in action against Sua Flamingoes.
