However, the club has vehemently denied such allegations and urged supporters to remain calm.

“There is no such dispute. We only hear rumours through social media and it is not true. Nobody can own a logo that belongs to a society,” club spokesperson, Bafana Pheto told Mmegi Sport. He said any improvement done on a society, which is Rollers Football Club remains property of the club. “It does not mean that if I am serving in the club’s executive committee and come up with something that improves the club, I would own it when I leave office.

It remains the property of the club. The logo has always been registered as property of the club and the improvement to it was done by the club. So no individual can claim ownership of this logo,” he said.

There were reports that the dispute over the ownership of the logo was the reason for the delay in the arrival of the replicas for the 2016-2017 season.

However, Pheto said the logo was never an obstacle in the arrival of the replicas.

He said the delay was caused by the fact that by the time the season kicked off, they were still in negotiation with their sponsors.

He said they had to wait for the negotiations to end so that they know which sponsors will appear on the shirts.

“We were going to incur extra costs if we brought the replicas before concluding negotiations. That would have meant we were going to have to print the companies’ logos at our own cost.  Remember these companies where we buy the merchandise are printing for us for free,” he said.

He said the replicas are expected to arrive starting tomorrow.

The club has been embroiled in disputes over the running of the club in the past.

They have a case before the courts with some disgruntled members seeking the court’s intervention arguing the club management is in contempt of court.
