Chiefs Holy Grail chase face Galaxy resistance

The quarter-final moves to Jwaneng on Sunday

The quarter-final moves to Jwaneng on Sunday

The teams played to a goalless draw in the first leg a fortnight ago in a match Galaxy made their maiden cup appearance.

Former league winning coach, Mike Sithole’s arrival at the diamond-mining town raised a lot of expectations for the club, however, they have failed to spark. Despite being decorated with the attacking talents of Tebogo Sembowa, Morris Rusivo and Sekhana Koko, Galaxy have been shy in front of the goal netting only two. On Sunday they would look for the creativity of Zebras players, Thabang Sesinyi and Thero Setsile.

The team is rooted at the bottom of the BTC Premiership log with only two points. In five games played this season Galaxy have drawn two while losing three. On the other hand Magosi, who are looking for their first Top 8 triumph, would have to be on top of their game. Chiefs showed glimpses of resurrection with a 4-0 trouncing of Mahalapye Hotspurs in a league game on Saturday after failing to hit the net in 280 minutes of action.

They would have to rely on the young talents of Ronaldo Fortune and new recruit, Stanley Ngala due to lack of depth upfront. Chiefs may have to do without playmaker Dirang Moloi and Noah Maposa who are set to undergo late fitness tests. However, Kopano Kgamanyane and Edwin Mokibe, who despite limited game time produced excellent displays on Saturday, may be called to replace the duo.

Players to watch:

Thero ‘Mahachi’ Setsile (Galaxy): The skillful winger is good with both feet and can play on the either flank and behind the strikers. Setsile scored one and created two goals that his team has scored this season. In a star studded Galaxy team, Mahachi has powered himself in to the starting line-up ahead of the Zebras attacker Thabang Sesinyi and the experienced Sekhana Koko.

Lesego Galenamotlhale (Chiefs): Galenamotlhale has been Chiefs’ rock for the past two seasons. The holding midfielder has an eye for a pass and is good reader of the game. This seasons he has been used as a deep lying playmaker due to his tackling and playmaking skills. He has the stamina to overpower any midfield in the country on his day.
