Saleshando is of the view that the minister should be stripped of his position for failing to protect the national purse under his care. Addressing a meeting for UDC leaders on Saturday, Saleshando said the Directorate on Intelligence and Security (DIS) boss has said about P3 billion has been lost due to corruption.

“We all know about shortage of medical facilities, medicine and human resource countrywide.

There is shortage of books and teachers in schools, teachers decry that they are paid very low salaries. The money we could be using has been stolen by a few under Matambo’s watch. He gets paid to take care of our money monthly and has never bothered to seek to be elected to Parliament.

“Le fa gotwe P3 billion o nyeletse, Matambo o didimetse hela ekare o mo tebelelong. Ga a bue sepe. Kamoso o tsoga a tsamaya a re ke kgaoganya sesha jaana gore disinyi di tseye. Fa e nee le gore puso e tlhwaafetse ka go kganela tshenyetso sechaba, Rre Matambo e ne e tlaa re ka Mantaga a re o a emelela, Btv le babega dikgang a bo a biditswe gotwe tlisa mabogo ga a makima, tsenya diatla fa o ye go tlhalosa gore madi a kae,” said Saleshando.

Saleshando said it was wrong for Matambo to keep quiet about the money which is said to be missing while he is the minister in charge. He said Matambo should have long spoken out and now has no authority to be looking after the country’s coffers as a lot of money has gone missing under his watch.

Saleshando cautioned people against believing that President Mokgweetsi Masisi will improve their livelihoods.

“He is very good at making false promises. He went around promising people the Vice President position and did not deliver.

He goes around promising good salaries. It is all a ploy to get his party to win the elections and then abandon you,” he said. The meeting was called to brief its members about the state of the organisation and the preparations for the general elections.

The meeting was attended by the central committees and auxiliary organs of the constituent parties, the regional chairpersons and secretaries, the Constituency Chairpersons and secretaries, MPs and Councillors, 2019 general elections candidates and campaign managers.

Saleshando said it was an important meeting as they would put to rest burning issues such as discussing the current court case, constituency allocations, development of the elections manifesto and other issues.
