During an interview with Showbiz, one of the event coordinators, Mmathapelo Gaobakwe said pastor David Houston Ototeng, who is the founder and leader of ministry, sponsored the festival.
“The objective of this show is to help raise funds for some disadvantaged communities that the church has been failing to assist adequately due to financial constraints. As a keen businessman, the pastor and his team decided to turn that vision into a reality by hosting this event that would also be a blessing to the Christians,” she said.
Gaobakwe said the festival would be a night of celebration with song, dance and poetry. She also expressed hope that people would come out in numbers to support the event, as it would be an opportunity to see their favourites artists on one stage.
“This event will also give be an opportunity for up and coming locals to showcase their talent at such a prestigious event. The show will feature South African gospel artists like The Dube Brothers, Neyi Zimu, Kgotso Makgalema and a surprise guest appearance from another popular gospel musician, also from South Africa. Representing Botswana will be Matthews Matsetse, Bianca from My Star and many others,” she said.
The Dube Brothers is made up of three sons of SA gospel legend pastor Benjamin Dube. The trio has introduced a rich, soulful innovative gospel approach that had attracted a number of fans more especially amongst the youth. Zimu is a talented and dynamic musician who has seen his childhood vision manifest into the rich musical career.
