Woman fires at her brother over tobacco pipe

“The two were in the same house and had a disagreement over a hubbly. The woman shot at her brother using a pump action short-gun but missed him. The man managed to close her outside and locked the door and hid under a bed. The sister, however, went to the window but could not find him and left the yard,” deputy officer commanding No.5 District, Superintendent John Kelebeng confirmed.

He said the man reported the case to the police and the woman is in custody pending further investigations. Kelebeng revealed that the gun belongs to their father and has not yet been recovered as the suspect said she threw it into the Thamalakane River.

In a separate incident, a 38-year-old Sedie ward man is accused of sexually assaulting two minors by inserting his finger into their private parts on Sunday.

He explained that the family of the affected children aged five years are neighbours to the suspect. Kelebeng revealed that the accused is a freelance tour guide who works for tourism companies. According to the police the suspect lured the two minors into his house promising to give them fruits and assaulted them. Kelebeng said that the children later explained to their aunt that the suspect kissed them and fondled their private parts.  He said the aunt reported the matter to Maun Police Station. “We investigated the claims. Took the minors for medical examination, which proved fingers were inserted in their private parts,” he said.

Kelebeng revealed that investigations into the case are still continuing.

Meanwhile still on Sunday, a guesthouse owned by Law Society of Botswana chairperson, Lawrence Lecha, was robbed by two assailants who attacked a security guard. Kelebeng said the two suspects aged 33 and 37 years, who were tracked and consequently arrested, made away with a laptop, P400 and a vehicle mirror valuing P2,500.
