That is if videos shot behind closed doors are anything to go by. In one video, which is 2:35 minutes long, he told the hall full of democrats from all over the country that he was no weakling.
Masisi reminded the party faithful that he still abided by the oath he took when he was sworn in as the fifth President of the Republic.
“Kene ke tlhwaafetse. Gake atla go tshameka. Ke monna, ke nyetse, ke lailwe, kea laya gompieno,” Masisi said with aplomb. He asserted that he was not in a battle and does not hate anybody in the party as that has the potential to alienate voters.
The President also said to abuse somebody is tantamount to tarnishing one’s name. Typical of a teacher, he pleaded with the delegates to take time to listen to each other and ask questions to understand issues.
He discouraged the democrats to arrive at emotional conclusions without the benefit of accurate information.
He also took the opportunity to caution an unnamed Member of Parliament who has made it a habit to abscond from the BDP parliamentary caucus.
“I will not mention the Member of Parliament by name, but from now on he will attend the caucus. If he derails, the [party] constitution says we can remove a candidate even if he was elected during Bulela Ditswe. If he persists, the party shall order the candidate to be replaced by another candidate.”
He added to the jubilation of the audience: “You cannot come here and bully a whole party, le nna tota I cannot bully the BDP”.
