BDP's ES exit unclear

The BDP Central Committee (CC) meeting, which is normally scheduled for every first Monday of the month, was postponed because some members of the committee did not turn up. The meeting failed after a successful party retreat that was held over the weekend in Palapye.
“The (CC) meeting was supposed to discuss the outcome of the Palapye retreat, preparations for the national council and the national congress which might be combined with the presidential elective congress.
Again, the party’s president Mokgweetsi Masisi had promised BDP members that the national congress and presidential election dates would be announced at a reasonable time,” an anonymous source said.
“But failure by Moloise to organise this meeting did not warrant her to be fired or forced to resign. Moloise has not been in the good books of the party’s secretary general.”
Another source said the reason why there was confusion over the said meeting was because of the retreat that happened over the weekend.
Yet another source said the party CC had not been meeting regularly and that is why Moloise might have failed to prepare for the meeting.
“If this was not a witch-hunt then some members of the CC, especially the party secretary general, could have reminded Moloise to organise for the scheduled meeting,” the source said. He revealed that there has been suspicion that Moloise might be the one leaking confidential information to a new faction called New Jerusalem.
A source said since the meeting was not prepared for, nothing was available that could guide the meeting or state agenda of the day.
The BDP secretary general, Mpho Balopi said Moloise was not forced to resign and the CC did not meet because there was confusion with members whether the meeting will be held or not.
“Remember, there was a retreat over the weekend and some members might have forgotten about the meeting. But it was there on the agenda of the party. We were forming a quorum but the meeting could not proceed because the party president wanted all members to be there.
“According to our constitution, the president presides over meetings of the CC and convenes them,” Balopi said.
He said he was not going to discuss any issue related to reasons for Moloise’s resignation letter because the issue was between the employer and the employee.
However, Moloise on her Facebook page said: “I served my three-year contract with the BDP and I was serving another three-year contract. The decision to resign was taken by myself as a way of taking personal responsibility for failing to prepare for a CC meeting on Monday and not being available for the same meeting. About 12 members, amongst them His Excellency the President Masisi turned up for the meeting”.
“I have respect for the party CC and for the state President and I sincerely found my actions unprofessional. I have taken responsibility for my actions, which caused an embarrassment to the party president.”
