The evening at Travel Lodge availed to patrons  the opportunity to  engage and indulge   in Distill’s  finest blended whisky.

Welcoming his guests for the evening Distell, Botswana Managing Director Mothusi Molokomme remarked that over the years, Distell has been dedicated to crafting some of the world’s best liquor brands that have grown to become household names in Botswana, Africa and the world over.

“One such brand is Scottish Leader, an unapologetically modern brand that has entered an established whisky category, competing strongly and continuing to grow year on year. Scottish Leader, by category standards, is a modern brand available in 30 countries worldwide. It has adopted a collaborative approach to producing the blend, introducing innovations and breathing fresh life into an ageing industry with a ‘new perspective’”

“ However, what it lacks in brand heritage, it makes up for in vision with its forward-thinking blending teams that deliver exceptional liquid that appeals to the taste of the day, Molokomme said.

Both Scottish Leader Original and Signature have each respectively earned awards in global competitions around the world, having won a Silver Award in the 2016 Spirit Challenge Awards and in the 2015 IWSC [International Wine & Spirits Competition] Quality Awards, awarded by some of the world-class Scotch Whisky Masters.

Distell Botswana Trade Marketing Manager Lekgotla Ntshole told the patrons Scottish Leader is an award-winning, internationally respected blended whisky that brings together close to 30 of the finest hand selected malt and grain whiskies from across Scotland to create a smooth, accessible whisky.

“A blended Scotch whisky can contain up to 50 whiskies. The art of blending not only requires a good nose and palate, but also an in-depth understanding of whisky and the different characteristics of each whisky.

Only through the skills of the blending team can we obtain the complex character of our blended whiskies, bringing together the different flavours from each of the whiskies used, to obtain the overall distinct character of each individual blend, be it Original or Signature.” Ntshole said they recently changed the positioning to align with the modern take and trend on whisky therefore launching the new engaging creative platform; “New perspectives, Richer possibilities, that is to say when you see a new perspective, richer possibilities are revealed; and that is what this Scotch whisky is about. Taking a progressive view on whisky, evolving spirits for today’s needs whilst inspiring others to do the same and discover richer possibilities in life”.

Along with the new creative platform, Distell also  launched the  slim, tall and uniquely shaped bottle designed to showcase the rich and golden liquid along with the Scottish heritage.

“This sense of vision and packaging innovation is impactful and contagious, and is what pushes the brand to new, exciting heights. At Scottish Leader we believe in having an open mind, in collaborating with like-minded people, and ultimately looking at whisky and life from a new perspective. It’s this modern perspective that led to production of this new modern packaging and the exceptionally sweet and smoky Signature variant.”
