Suspended committee agitated by BFA's silence

An investigation was opened against the members over allegations of misappropriation of more than P160, 000. However, the affected claim they have not heard from the BFA since the suspension.  BFA chief executive officer, Mfolo Mfolo said the matter has been referred to the disciplinary committee and they are waiting to hear from the judicial body.

“We have submitted the auditor’s report to the DC. They are doing their own investigations and will prosecute.

We are waiting to hear from them,” he said. Suspended chairperson, Mpezeni Sambandawe accused the association of delaying the matter, despite the damages caused to him and his team.

He said they have it on good authority that the mother body intends to drag the matter until the next elective congress. Sambandawe said they have been defamed and are anxious to know their fate.  He said BFA’s silence on the matter is frustrating. 

“It’s been four months now and we are kept in the dark about the progress of the investigations, but our names have been soiled. This issue has affected our relationships and the BFA need to take visible steps so that we can clear ourselves,” he said.  “We expect they should have, at least, written to us by now. We are football administrators and we don’t want to be seen to be fighting the system.

It is unfair and our choices are limited. If things are not done accordingly, we would have to take them head-on.”  Meanwhile, the northern league continues this weekend, with the clash between title chasers Morupule Wanderers and Sua Flamingoes, the highlight. The two clash at the Paul Henry Stadium in Sowa Town.  Wanderers could rise to the top of the log for the first time, at least for 24hours, with leaders TAFIC in action the next day.

A defeat for Wanderers would dent their title chances, but they will remain a point ahead of their weekend opponents.  They edged Flamingoes 2-1 in the reverse fixture. Third-placed Flamingoes, however, have proved tough to beat at home.

While Wanderers will be battling to return to their scoring form after a stalemate with TAFIC while on the other hand, Flamingoes would be buoyed by their 4-0 thrashing of GNT last weekend. TAFIC are home to Green Lovers on Sunday, but their scoring touch has deserted them, with just one goal in three games since the start of the year.

 Their lack of firepower could be attributed to the departure of their marksman, Mbatshi Elias who joined Orapa United.

They beat Lovers 2-0 in the first meeting in Serowe, but the Green Submarines are unpredictable and could cause an upset. Rookies, Eleven Angels who continue to cause upsets, face Francistown City Greens in a city derby.

Dynamos visit Majombolo in Selebi-Phikwe, while Real Movers welcome Calendar Stars to the former mining town.

Palapye All Stars will be looking for their second consecutive win against Great North Tigers at Palapye Swallows Grounds. All matches kick off at 4pm.
