Moroka's Love Bite gives insight on relationship challenges

When lovebirds were busy celebrating their affection on Valentine’s Day yesterday, Moroka decided to launch his book and inspire lovers. The launch was held at Maitisong Theatre.
In an interview with Arts & Culture, the artiste said Love Bite was inspired by the true events that happen around people daily. He said every now and then, he meets people who are heart broken.
“As we speak there is someone out there crying because of a heartbreak that is why I titled my boo Love Bite. I have made this book in a dialogue where two people are communicating about love affairs and their challenges just like in a script. I wanted to make it easier for my readers to relate with the issues raised in the book,” he said. Moroka added that he dedicated his book to all men. He advised them that even though a relationship can turn sour and reach a point where another partner does not want to be in it anymore, they should let go and not resort to violence.
He said it was high time men became role models to their loved ones and love them endlessly regardless of the challenges life might throw at them.
In the book, he pleads with men not to rape and kill children, sisters, and their mothers even if the relationship ends unpleasantly, they must not hurt, abuse or kill their partners. He also implored women to take heed on the issue. “It took me eight months to write this 264 pages book. For now, I am still in talks with different bookshops to sell it but it is promising. For now we will be delivering around with our distributors. We also intend to sell it internationally,” he said.
He added that Batswana were looking forward to buying and learning a lot from the book. He also boasted that having made an impact in the international arts industry, he had been able to make friends from SADC region who also encouraged him to sell the book beyond local borders.
Even though it seems like writing that book might have been easy, Moroka explained that compiling it was not a piece of cake as many might think.
He explained that starting to write it was hectic but as a playwright it got better as he was used to writing scripts for different parastatals and government departments. He said he used his experience to come up with that brilliant book. Love Bite sells for P130 a copy.
His enthusiasm and love for craft as an artiste have been aspired by Robert Mshengu Mclaren and Steven Chifunyise, an internationally renowned Zimbabwean national with a wealthy experience in arts training who mentored him. Chifunyise is Africa’s revered arts critic and UNESCO trainer who has overseen the successful ratification and implementation of UNESCO Conventions in many countries around the world including Botswana.
