The album titled New Kid On The Block (NKOTB), which is in the post-production era features the likes of Kwesta, Maggz, Nadia Nakai, Psyfo, Ghost, Stat P and veteran, Ishmael.  NKOTB is set to be released next month.

“I am trying to pave the way for Botswana artists to be on that A list level.  It’s our turn to rise to international level,” Dino Dru said, as he explained why he opted to collaborate with South African artists on his debut album.

He stated that by collaborating with these artists he is trying to penetrate the regional and international scene.  For the past two years South African hip hop has been on its peak with the likes of KO, Cassper Nyovest and Ifani’s albums being certified gold and obtaining millions of rands for their music.

With his upcoming project, Dino Dru intends to sell records internationally based on the work and quality he has invested in.  “My mission is to sell the most records by an African hip hop act independently, plus to also have the most collaborations across all genres in and out of the continent,” he said.

He is one of the few local rappers to have more than five South African acts on one album, as the likes of Zeus have also featured quite a number of South African acts on their previous projects.

The album also consists of features from local artists such as Motswaki Vic and SPRYT.  The production side comprises of local and South African music producers such as Psyfo, Airdee, Sly Beats, Bobby Hands and Ace l.

One of the latest singles from the upcoming album is a track called On The Way, which features Kwesta.

The move by Dino Dru to feature a number of South African artists considering that they have a wide market is a good, as it exposes him to the same market.  He is planning on moving to South Africa to focus on his musical career.

As a build-up to the release of the album the rapper is set to release a mixtape titled 30Dru Bars on Friday.
