Lizibo Charms Lovebirds On Emotionally Charged V-Day

If afro-pop musician lovers were in town, then the hotel was the place to be as Lizibo staged the first one-man three-hour live band show.
The event was an African Valentine’s theme filled with celebrating African cuisine, attire and enchanting indigenous music belted in Setswana, Ikalanga and a bit of English. The well-marketed event started later than anticipated due to unfavourable weather conditions and some of the patrons were complaining about dinner being served late.
But even so, when Lizibo got into stage, he had revellers eating out of his palm with an improvisation of Ikalanga traditional song, delele langu le pa moto.
The song got the crowd singing along, dancing and approaching the talented singer for selfies.
Lizibo’s performance was on point and delighted both the single and couples including district commissioner, Minky Bokole who was amongst the attendants.
The Malebeswa hitmaker was the toast of the night when he sang some of the local hits of old time including a romantic ballad by Mike Mogotsakgotla Kgaodi aka Kgotla in the music circles.
The song, which epitomises love goes like “Matshidiso o ntshenya ka monyenyo/Ngwana wa thupa tsa maretlwa/O ntshenya ka molebo/Nna ke rata wena fela” which are the most romantic lines and has in the past became the love anthem adored by both men and women.
When the afro-pop artist performed Selemela by Evans Modubule popularly known as Mr Tag, some men clung to their women as their partners screamed and hugged the talented singer.
He also left the crowd mesmerised with his tracks O tla mmona, Tjimunyamunya and Mosadi.
A rendition of Mosadi was perhaps the dizzy height of the evening as it had to be interrupted when gifted chief executive officer of Ngwana Enterprises, Mooketsi Tekere popped the question to his long time Rwandan girlfriend.
The memorable time took a few seconds and Lizibo was back on stage to delight his fans with more of his music.
The renowned musician also performed Jamaican singer, Bob Marley One Love and also paid a tribute to Oliver “Tuku” Mtukudzi who was a Zimbabwean musician, businessman, philanthropist, human rights activist and UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador for Southern Africa Region who passed away last month.
When the artist performed his showstopper Malebeswa he got the revellers asking for more after putting a top-notch performance together with his trademark dance.
