Tables turn as Wanderers topple TAFIC

Going into the match, Wanderers were second behind TAFIC, but the Francistown side suffered a shock loss to relegation threatened Green Lovers. Wanderers have now accumulated 34 points from 14 games while TAFIC are a point behind.
Ahead of the Sunday match TAFIC had won 11 games drawing only two, scoring 29 goals and conceding only six. However, if their weekend performance is anything to go by TAFIC might pay the price for not using the recent transfer window to freshen up their defence.
TAFIC’s first loss this season highlighted the team’s defensive frailties and they could have lost the match by a wider margin had it not been for the visitors’ wastefulness. The departure of marksman, Mbatshi Elias who was shipped to Orapa United two weeks ago, appears to have also impacted negatively on TAFIC. The host failed to click upfront on Saturday.
Meanwhile, there were no major changes in other positions following the weekend matches. Real Movers still remain at the bottom following their 1-0 loss to Calendar Stars who are experiencing good form in the second round.
Palapye All Stars are second from bottom with nine points, just two points above Movers. Green Lovers improved their survival bid following their win against TAFIC. They, however remain at position 10, just outside the relegation zone, with 13 points.
Great North Tigers (GNT) also boosted their survival chances with a 2-0 win in a less fancied Francistown derby against rookies, Eleven Angels. As a result, Angels dropped from position four to five. Nico United moved to position four with 24-points following their weekend 1-0 win over Motlakase Power Dynamos.
