He said the intention now would be to win even by a solitary goal in the second leg and move to the next stage of the competition. “If you look at our recent games including the Gunners match, we play a pressing game in the first 20 minutes of the match and the last 15 minutes. We managed to execute that even against GU and got the result,” he said.

On loan speedy winger, Kobamelo Kebaikanye scored two goals and shot to the top of the goal scoring charts in this year’s edition. He opened the score sheet in the first half before Kabelo Seakanyeng equalised 10 minutes into the second half.

However Namibian forward, Roger Katjiteo then put BDF XI in front again before Kebaikanye scored the third to put his side on the advantage going into the second leg. Botlhoko said they are happy with Kebaikanye’s input who is on a season-long loan from Township Rollers. Kebaikanye also scored a goal coming on as a second half substitute in the 3-1 win over Mahalapye Hotspurs in the league game. “It is a good result for us but we should now forget about it and focus on the league match this weekend,” he added. BDF XI take on Rollers on Friday in what promises to be an exciting game.

GU coach, Rodolfo Zapata said though they lost the match, they dominated and should have salvaged something. “My players dominated the whole game, but unfortunately we made three mistakes and these small details made a huge impact on the game. It is still an open game,” he said.

The Argentinean mentor said they must attack from the first whistle in the second leg. “After Skebo’s (Seakanyeng) goal tied the match, we were close to winning the game but they punished us on the counter-attack at the end of the game. Three-one was a very unfair result but we have 90 minutes to change the course,” he said.

Supporters were finally offered something that they have been yearning for when the encounter produced four goals. The competition kicked off to a slow start with only one goal scored in the first three quarterfinals. Rollers narrowly beat Police XI 1-0 in Francistown on Friday courtesy of substitute, Pape Ndaw’s header. On Saturday and Sunday, supporters were treated to goalless draws in Orapa and the National Stadium. Defending champions, Orapa United failed to break Miscellaneous defence at Itekeng Stadium before Mochudi Centre Chiefs and Jwaneng Galaxy also hit blanks the following day.
