Form 4 placement complete

In a press release, speaking on behalf of the permanent secretary, the ministry’s public relations officer, Lebogang Nyadza stated that all the 2019 Form Fours are expected to report to their respective schools on February 26, 2019. She added that students admitted as boarders are expected to report on February 25, 2019. 

Amongst a total of 41,062 candidates that registered to write the 2018 examination, 40,353 candidates sat and were awarded grades in the 2018 JCE. 

A total of 22,638 students were placed for Form Four of which six passed with merit, 483 with grade A, 4,104 with grade B, 9,944 with grade C and only 8,101 out of the 14,234 with grade D, 6,133 are not admitted for Form Four. 

“Information on all students’ placed will be in all secondary schools and regional education offices countrywide.  The information is accessible from all the three local mobile cellular phone service providers through a Short Messaging Services (SMS),” she said. 

To access student placement through SMS, students are advised to compose the message as form 4 (space) centre number (space) candidate number (space) surname. The message should be sent to 16688. The student will then receive information about his or her placement. 

Nyadza noted that the criteria used for placement was based on catchment areas and the need to balance school enrolments.  She therefore explained that all students’ transfers would be done at school and regional level.
